On Masculinity
As I listen and watch all the media coverage of the “anger” emanating from white males today, I think about the role model of masculinity that I grew up with in the 1950s. I think about my father, who barely graduated from high school, who was a diesel mechanic and farmer, who never made more than $7/hour as a wage earner, and who often worked two jobs to help our family “get ahead.” Yet, I never heard my father complain about his plight in life.
